Frequently Asked Questions

What if I am not sure where to start?

You do not need to have it all figured out before you come. Many people begin therapy feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or tangled up in things they cannot quite name. That is completely okay. We will take our time and begin wherever you are.

Is therapy the right fit for me?

Therapy can support many different kinds of people. Not just those in crisis. You might be managing life well on the surface, but still feel disconnected, stuck, or unsettled underneath. If you are curious, reflective, and open to exploring things at a deeper level, therapy can offer lasting support.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach is relational, reflective, and grounded. In other words, to meet you where you are at. I draw on evidence-based practices, but I also listen closely to what matters to you. Its important to journey alongside you, and in ways that feel safe and respectful.

Can we work long term?

Yes. Some people come for a few sessions during a tough chapter in their lives. Others stay longer to explore deeper patterns, relational dynamics, or long-held experiences. For some, therapy is something they return to later later, when life changes and they want that support again. There is no pressure either way. We will check in together about what feels most useful for you.

What if I get emotional or feel overwhelmed in session?

That is completely welcome here. Therapy can stir up strong emotions, especially when we start naming things that have been buried, minimised, or bottled up for a long time. Often, that emotional response is part of the healing process; a sign that something important is being held again. You do not have to manage it on your own. I will be right there with you, and we will slow things down whenever we need to.

Referral Options

You do not need a referral to get started. You are very welcome to book in directly.

If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a referral from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Most people are referred under either a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP). An MHTP gives you up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. An EDTP, where eligible, provides access to up to 40 sessions each year. If you are not sure which plan is right for you, we can talk it through together.

If your referral comes from a psychiatrist or paediatrician, that works too. Just bring it along to your first session, and we will take care of the rest.

Your First Appointment

It is completely natural to feel a little nervous before starting therapy. My hope is that knowing what to expect, will ease some of those worries and help you feel more prepared.

Each session runs for approximately 50 minutes, and many people find that coming consistently, either weekly or fortnightly, gives the best rhythm for progress.

Before we begin, you will receive some information about The Nesting Place, along with a consent form that explains things like fees, confidentiality, and privacy. We will go through these together so you feel clear and comfortable.

Your first appointment is really about getting to know each other. I will invite you to share what has brought you here and what you are hoping for.

We will talk about your experiences and background — things like family, relationships, and significant life events. This helps us understand the layers of your story and how we can best work towards your goals.

There can be a lot to cover. Sometimes it takes more than one session to lay the foundation. Most people say they leave that first meeting feeling lighter, simply from having their story heard and held.

Fees & Rebates

Therapy is a meaningful investment. An investment in your wellbeing, your time, and your future. I understand the importance of clarity when it comes to fees and rebates, and I aim to keep the process straightforward. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to guide you through your options.

  • Change the text and add your own content, including any information that is relevant to share.

Standard sessions are $190 and run for 50 minutes. If you have a Medicare rebate, this reduces your out-of-pocket cost. Most clients receive around $90 back per session.

  • This is a paragraph where you can include any information you’d like. It’s an opportunity to tell a story about the company.

I offer a small number of reduced-fee places for clients experiencing financial stress. Please feel free to get in touch if cost is a concern — we can explore what’s possible together.

  • Describe a feature you’d like to share about this company or highlight a particular service it offers.

If you need to reschedule, please give at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee, as that time is set aside for you.

  • Describe a feature you’d like to share about this company or highlight a particular service it offers.

If you are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS, you may be able to use your funding to access therapy. I am not currently registered as an NDIS provider, but I am able to invoice under the appropriate item numbers for clients who meet the criteria. Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to check whether this applies to you.

Therapy is a commitment — to your wellbeing, your relationships, and the kind of life you want to build.

While the cost is financial, the value runs deeper. This is a space where you are invited to pause, reflect, and make sense of your inner world with care and clarity. For many clients, therapy becomes an anchor; a place that supports not only emotional healing, but more grounded decisions, clearer boundaries, and deeper connection to self and others.

You are not just paying for an hour. You are choosing a space that supports long term change.
